Mission: We enrich lives through engaging learning experiences.

Our partnerships promote individual growth & enhance the community's quality of life.

:

Located in beautiful Marquette Park, Thomas Dunn Learning Center is a community education organization through which life-long learning opportunities are made available to countless individuals throughout the St. Louis Region. Our professional instructors and collaborators offer quality, free or low-cost classes and workshops, focusing on education, culture, enrichment and civics.

Our award-winning, ADA-accessible facility features multiple classrooms, a computer lab, a library, an art lab, a training kitchen, and a small auditorium. In 2016, an art gallery was established within the center, to showcase the work of the region’s up-and-coming artists.

Some of our classes happen only once, while others are ongoing. Our listings have included financial empowerment, cooking, computer, health, and environmental sustainability classes. Community involvement is key, and everyone is welcome to participate. Check our calendar for current offerings that are updated continually.

Use Our Computer Lab
Need a place to complete your homework assignments, search for employment or check out social media? You can use our Computer Lab Monday through Thursday; 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Publisher, Homework Helpers and Job Search links are just a few of the many resources available. Please bring a USB/Thumb drive to save your files. We also offer software training classes on a regular basis. Make sure to check our calendar listings.

HiSET Program
Thomas Dunn Learning Center HiSET Prep Program is designed to meet the needs of those who did not finish high school but need state-issued high school equivalency credentials. HiSET stands for High School Equivalency Test. It is the test chosen by the State of Missouri to allow adults to earn their high school diploma. It is similar to the GED that Missouri used to use.  Attainment allows an individual to move forward in a career field, join the military, begin a training program, or continue their education.

Select a Book from Our Library
Thomas Dunn Learning Center library may be small, but it's very special. Its circular shape, accented with a working fireplace and natural light streams from our pyramid skylight, provides a cozy atmosphere for individuals to lose themselves in a good book or for small groups to meet. Our collection of fiction, non-fiction, reference and classic books provides something for everyone.

Art Lab
We have a fully stocked and staffed art lab for a variety of creative endeavors including working with clay, watercolor, painting, drawing, collaging and crafting. We invite the public to come enjoy our Open Art Lab for free, use of the supplies, and a live art demonstration on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:00 – 7:00 PM.  Need to laugh to reduce stress? Laughter Club meets on Tuesdays after Open Art Lab. We also host the adult series Altered Artists for adults to either Sip ‘n Sketch or receive a personal art demonstration/lesson from a local guest artist every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM.

Training/Demonstration Kitchen
Our kitchen is fully appointed with two stovetops, two industrial microwaves, and four ovens. We host a variety of cooking classes that have included specialty food preparation such as vegan, teen cooking camps, diabetic education, weight loss/weight maintenance, and cooking with recaptured foods. We also hold canning and food preservation classes.
